PETALING JAYA: This Chinese New Year proved to be doubly exciting for a man who won over RM20mil by trying his luck with the combination of his MyKad and car's registration plate numbers.
The man, in his 30s, from Subang Jaya, won the grand prize from Magnum 4D on Feb 13, with his combination numbers of 0094 and 7838, which he bought at Magnum 4D's Taipan USJ outlet for RM6.
He said he had been consistently buying the numbers since 2009. His perseverance finally paid off when the combination won him RM20,126,725.
“I couldn't believe that I won the jackpot first prize! I went to the Magnum website to double-check the results and even called their customer hotline to confirm.
“My wife and I were up all night discussing what we were going to do with the winnings,” said the man, who did not want to be identified.
The father of two said he would put aside a portion of the money for his children's future and donate some to charity.
“I will be very careful about how I spend the money, as not many people have the opportunity to win the jackpot,” he said.
A Magnum spokesman described the win as “a fantastic start to the Chinese New Year”.
