The armoured security van that was hijacked. PETALING JAYA: A security company van carrying RM2.2mil was robbed by three men armed with stun guns in front of a food court in Jalan 51A/227 heading to Jalan 222 here on Wednesday.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the robbery at 10am took place when three company employees assigned to send the money to a bank in the federal capital stopped at the food court to buy breakfast.
"Three masked men armed with stun guns attacked the van driver who came out of the vehicle and seized the money before fleeing in an MPV," he told a media conference here.
Arjunaidi said police were taking statements from the three victims aged between 25 and 31 years to investigate the incident including lapses in complying with the standard operating procedures (SOP).
"According to the SOP, the driver cannot come out of the van.
“They also claimed being unable to remember the MPV registration plate.
“We will study the CCTV recording at the incident site," he said. - Bernama
