Malaysian arrested in Thailand with fake money and drugs


BANGKOK: A Malaysian was detained after using fake Thai currency to purchase a phone card in Betong, Yala, on Tuesday.

Betong police chief Col Suwat Wongpaiboon said on Wednesday that the 30-year-old man from Kampar, Perak, was detained at a hotel in Betong.

A shopkeeper informed the police after the accused had used fake 1,000 Baht note to pay for a 450 Baht phone card.

Police found 13 notes of fake 1,000 Baht and a fake RM50 note as well as some Ecstasy pills.

He was also alleged to have entered Thailand illegally. - Bernama
