By QISHIN TARIQ

AMPANG: A cafeteria helper was charged in a Magistrate's court here with abetting former ISA detainee Yazid Sufaat to incite terrorists acts.

Mohd Hilmi Hasim was detained on Feb 7 with Yazid and religious teacher Halimah Hussein under the new Special Offences (Security Measures) Act 2012.

On Wednesday, Yazid and Halimah claimed trial to inciting terrorists act with the intent to "threaten the public" in Syria.

The offence was alleged to have been committed at a house in Taman Bukit Ampang, Lorong Mutiara 2, Lembah Jaya, here, between August and Oct 2012.

Mohd Hilmi, clad in a blue shirt and jeans, nodded after the charged were read to him. No plea was recorded.

Magistrate Zuliana Zollkapli transferred the case to the KL High court.

Eventhough he has been charged, Mohd Hilmi's counsel said they would not withdraw his habeas corpus application and are considering to sue for wrongful detention.
