Tee Keat: PM has final call on candidates
KUALA LUMPUR: Pandan MP Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is unperturbed over reports that he is not on MCA's list of possible candidates for the upcoming general election.
He insisted that only Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has the final say on candidates.
"I am not surprised by the announcement. It is within my expectations.
"(But) at the end, the final decision will be with the Barisan chairman," he told a press conference here Thursday.
On Wednesday, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Ong was not listed as a possible candidate to defend the parliamentary seat.
Dr Chua said Ong did not have the support of all the component parties in his constituency, which the latter has held for five terms.
