Khaled: Six varsities undergoing sustainability review

PUTRAJAYA: Six private institutions of higher learning (IPTS) are undergoing a sustainability review to monitor their administration as well as programmes and services offered.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said six other private universities were awaiting their turn to be inspected.

"There is no fixed period on how long the inspections will be carried out on the IPTS involved," he told reporters here Thursday.

Last January, Mohamed Khaled said nine IPTS will undergo a sustainability reveiew this year, including Universiti Industri Selangor (Unisel), Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin), Malaysian University of Science and Technology, AIMST University, Twintech University College of Technology, Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor (Kuis), Linton University College, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College and Lincoln University College.

The review will be conducted by a committee made up of representatives from public institutions of higher learning (IPTA) and IPTS starting this month so that measures for improvement can be taken.

The IPTS were selected based on weaknesses or complaints received by the public regarding their service and performance, or even randomly. - Bernama
