PM approves schools, another 500 units of affordable homes
MIRI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has approved the building of two more schools in Bandar Baru Permyjaya here and another 500 units of affordable homes under Skim Perumahan Rakyat in Lambir near here.
Najib said the rest of the requests put forward by SUPP president Datuk Seri Peter Chin earlier would be considered under the Barisan Nasional manifesto, which would be announced any time soon.
Last night, he reminded the people about the importance of having the right pair of hands to manage the country and having confidence in that person to administer.
“If the country is moving in the right direction, then it will benefit the Miri people and Malaysians at large,” said Najib.
He also said it was important to put the right people in the right place and the people must not gamble their future because so much was at stake.
Najib also took a swipe at the Opposition. “For example, in Kedah the ruling party has imposed some very funny rulings for non-Muslims. Can you imagine such parties ruling the country?”
He warned the people against giving mandate to such parties.
“You will have chaos and that spells disaster for this country,” he said, adding that he had seen how affluent the people in Miri are with nice beautiful houses, very wide roads and they should not gamble all these away.
Najib said he agreed with Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud that the progress and change that the people were enjoying now were just the beginning of many more good things to come.
“If you give mandate to Barisan to have strong leadership and to me as your Prime Minister, the development will further accelerate with stronger pace in Miri which I intend to do as your PM.”
“Suffice to say if you believe in me then support Barisan and I will support wholeheartedly Sarawak and your people,” he said.
He also thanked SUPP and all Mirians for their great support yesterday and giving he and his wife a warm welcome.
More than 5,000 people packed the Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club Resort last night to celebrate Chinese New Year with Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
All state Barisan political party representatives, community leaders and association and club representatives were present.
