DAP will not take action against Boo, says Tan

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor DAP chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau will not be punished for his public spat with his PKR counterpart Datuk Chua Jui Meng over the Gelang Patah seat, said DAP deputy chairman Tan Kok Wai.

He said Dr Boo was merely expressing his feelings.

“There is no need for Dr Boo to face the disciplinary committee. It was an expression of his feelings, (so) is it not a disciplinary matter,” he said.

While acknowledging that the spat between the two men did not sound good for Pakatan Rakyat's election preparations in the state, Tan said that the election machinery was not affected.

“We are in top gear now,” he said, adding that there would be a “happy ending” from both sides as they had expressed willingness to have a cordial relationship.

Dr Boo, who is the Skudai assemblyman, had earlier released a statement accusing Chua of damaging the relationship between PKR and DAP in Johor.

Dr Boo claimed he “deeply believed” that Chua was the “black hand” behind all the anonymous attacks against Johor DAP.

The discontent had come under the national spotlight with Pakatan's leaders calling for action on the matter.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had issued a gag order on Dr Boo on Tuesday. On Thursday, Dr Boo said he wanted to put the feud behind him to focus on the general election.
