William Yau’s death inquest begins tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: The inquest into William Yau's death is expected to begin tomorow, with his parents at the top of the witness list.

Deputy Subang Jaya OCPD Supt Tan Ah Chua said the inquest could begin the same day as the mention of the case on Monday, where the Deputy Public Prosecutor would be calling material witnesses to give their statements.

However, he said there was also a possibility of the inquest being postponed to a later date.

Police had interviewed 54 witnesses from the time William was reported missing on Jan 16 and until the time his body was found floating in a river near Port Klang nine days later.

Supt Tan said it would be up to the DPP to decide who among the witnesses to call.

“Not all the witnesses may be called to give their statement. They will most probably start with his parents,” he said.

When contacted, Willam's mother Goh Ying Ying said she had yet to receive any call from authorities for her to appear at the Petaling Jaya magistrate's court.
