Court orders separate hearings of suits by Shahrizat and Rafizi

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has ordered that the suit filed by Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil against PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli, and his ensuing counter-claim, be heard separately.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera made the decision on grounds that the defendant had not proven his case.

JC Vazeer fixed March 18 to continue for the trial of the main suit.

In the suit filed on Jan 19 last year, Shahrizat said Rafizi and PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin started holding a series of press conferences in an orchestrated attack against NFC, her husband and family.

The former Women, Family and Community Development Minister is seeking an injunction to restrain the two PKR leaders from further making statements, as well as costs, interests and other relief.

Rafizi filed a counter-claim on March 8, 2012 against Shahrizat over her alleged defamatory remarks that implied he was a traitor.
