State CID chief ACP K.Manoharan said the victim and the suspects were arguing at the house before one of them grabbed the victim and tried to strangle him in front of the family.

He said suspect threatened to burn the victim's house because he had quit the party and put up the banner.

The victim and his group left the party two months ago and wanted to form a new branch at the village.
