KUALA LUMPUR: An International Children's Wellbeing Fund, initiated by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, received RM21.7mil from local and international donors at its launching on Tuesday night.

The fund was set up by Rosmah, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, following her recent visit to Gaza.

“I was very affected by the plight of the children there, who were still smiling despite living in poverty or having lost their parents.

“I decided then to set up this fund to help poor children and even those with chronic illnesses not only in Malaysia but other countries as well,” she said at the launching of the fund at Istana Budaya here.

The donors included the Albukhary Foundation and Gamuda Bhd.

Energetic and colourful performances by the talented children of the Permata Seni group joined in the launching.
