Malaysia to host Global Summit of Women June 6-8
BANGI: Malaysia will be hosting the prestigious Global Summit of Women (GSW) for the first time, announced Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
The three-day summit, themed 'Women: Creating New Economies', will be held from June 6 to 8 and is expected to attract over 1,000 delegates from 70 countries including top leaders from the business, government and civil society such as from Italy, France and Poland.
It is expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Rosmah, who is Najib's wife and the chairperson for this year's 23rd Summit, said Malaysia had won the bid in 2011, beating Brazil.
"The Summit will provide a platform for women to discuss and learn practical strategies and best practices in the world as well as solutions to problems.
"It will also allow participants to get to know the Malaysian market better while exploring positive alliances, networking and business opportunities," she said Wednesday at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia after speaking at the Legacies of Women Forum, which is a prelude to the Summit.
