BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have set up a task force to look for Year Six pupil Mohamad Daniel Haiqal Desa, 12, who has been missing since Monday.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Azman Abd Lah said they combed several areas where Mohamad Daniel was said to have frequented during his free time.
He said they had also interviewed some of his close friends to shed light on the matter but it proved futile.
“We have gone to cyber cafes, mosques and the surrounding areas where the boy frequented in the hope of locating him.
“We even went to his school, hoping that he would turn up,” he said.
It was earlier reported that Mohamad Daniel, from SK Sungai Rambai, had gone missing from his aunt's house in the Desa Wawasan flats in Bukit Mertajam.
He is believed to have left home with some clothes and cash at about 9.30am on Monday.
ACP Azman said they had taken statements from several people, including the boy's mother and aunt.
He said the boy stayed with his aunt after his parents divorced.
“We have informed his mother who is staying in Seberang Jaya.
“The boy was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and carrying a black backpack. He was also riding a light blue bicycle,” said ACP Azman, adding that the boy was the second of three siblings. “He's about three to four feet tall and weighed some 30kg.”
Mohamad Daniel had run away from home last June but returned after 10 days.
