Accused in robbery case shot dead after court appearance

MALACCA: A 38-year-old man who had appeared in court Monday morning as the accused in a robbery case was shot dead in his car just minutes later.

During the 10.30am incident, S. Saravanan, from Penang, who was driving his Honda Accord, was approached by two men on a motorcycle when he stopped at the Ayer Keroh industrial area traffic junction here.

One of them fired several shots at him through the side window and windscreen, hitting him in the neck and chest and killing him on the spot.

According to the initial police investigation, he had just left the Ayer Keroh Court Complex, about two kilometres away, where he had appeared as the accused for the proceedings in a robbery case.
