Dora Theophilus, 36, left Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 11am Tuesday morning, accompanied by Claudia's close friend, who wished to remain anonymous, and two representatives from the Umno Youth Community Complaints Bureau.
If all goes well, Claudia's body is expected to be brought back to her Seremban home this Friday.
When met by reporters, Dora said she hoped the procedure to bring her sister's body home would proceed smoothly.
Declining to comment further, she added, "I'm grateful for all the support from friends, relatives and Claudia's employers since the incident.
"Our family will, however, appreciate it very much if the media can respect our privacy and just pray for her to rest in peace," she said.
It was reported that Claudia, 42, who was a producer for Al-Jazeera English Online, based in Doha, Qatar, was shot when she went visit a Lebanese friend in Baakleen, Lebanon, Bernama reported.
Meanwhile, a close friend of the family said that Theophilus' employer Al-Jazeera in Doha had indicated that they would foot all the bills for Dora, the unnamed friend who is accompanying her and the repatriation of Theophilus' body.
Theophilus is also covered by the Al-Jazeera personal insurance scheme.
