Daring heist at Seremban jewellery shop


SEREMBAN: Four men armed with weapons, including pistols, snatched 11 trays of jewellery during a daring three-minute heist at a goldsmith shop in Taman Senawang Jaya here Wednesday.

Seremban police chief ACP Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said during the 11.30am incident, the masked robbers fired a few shots into the air before entering the shop and breaking the jewellery display glass to scoop up the contents.

"The shop owner and his two workers were at the premises during the incident but they were not harmed," he said.

A witness, who only wanted to be identified as Alang, 55, said he was at an adjacent shop when he saw four masked men on two motorcycles stop at the shop.

According to him, two of the men entered the shop carrying an axe and a hammer while the other two, one of whom was holding two pistols, stood in the middle of the road in front of the premises.

"I went closer to the shop and had a jolt when the man who was holding the pistols fired three shots in the air and shouted 'run!, run!'. He then aimed the pistols at the public and passing vehicles, causing panic-stricken people to run helter-skelter," he said.

He said the robbers were at the scene for only about three minutes. - Bernama
