Nasharudin finally gets his termination letter from Syura Council
By SIRA HABIBU
Nasharudin Mat Isa, the embattled former PAS deputy chief, received his letter of termination from the Syura Council on Wednesday. PETALING JAYA: Former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa has finally received his letter of termination from the Syura Council, some 24 days after his expulsion.
However, the specific reason for his termination is not clearly stated in the letter dated Jan 14.
Confirming that he had received the letter only Wednesday, Nasharudin said the date stamped on the envelope was Jan 30.
"The letter dated Jan 14 was signed by the Syura Council secretary. The reason (for the sacking) is not clearly specified," he said.
PAS Murysidul Am Datuk Seri Nik Aziz Nik Mat had said on Jan 30 that the Syura Council had decided to sack Nasharudin during its meeting on Jan 13 because the he did not attend three consecutive meetings.
Nasharudin, however, is still a member of party.
PAS has so far ignored calls by various quarters to review its decision to sack Nasharudin from the Syura Council, as he was not given a chance to defend himself.
Nik Aziz announced Nasharudin's sacking soon after the latter returned to Malaysia after accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his historic visit to the conflict-ridden Gaza.
Speculation is also rife that PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP leaders had wanted to boot Nasharudin out because he had been critical of them.
