Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah receives highest honour from Japan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah received the Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum award from the Japanese Government.

The Queen was presented with the award by Japanese ambassador to Malaysia Shigeru Nakamura at Istana Negara here yesterday.

Also present was Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

The award is the highest in the Japanese Imperial Honours System which confers it only to female members of the Japanese Imperial Family and foreign female royalty.

The award was previously received by the 12th Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid in 2005.

Among the previous recipients are Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Empress Farah Pahlavi of Iran, Queen Paola of Belgium, Queen Silvia of Sweden, Queen Sirikit of Thailand and Queen Sofia of Spain. - Bernama
