Take part in Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park , Kong tells Chinese traders
PETALING JAYA: Local Chinese businesses should participate in the newly launched Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) as it is a good platform for them to forge trade relations with China-based companies.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said the MCKIP would not only stimulate trade and economic development along the east coast region but also help boost Malaysia's overall economy.
“The industrial park also symbolises both our nations' journey towards a new milestone together in terms of bilateral trade and business-friendly relations,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Kong said with the MCKIP, local businesses would be able to actively participate in investments and help drive the economy of Malaysia's east coast to create a new image in the towns there.
He said the park was a symbol of China and Malaysia's friendship and cooperation and signalled a new chapter for both nations.
“It is hoped that this will enable our economy to move into higher gear, which will in a few years help to contribute to our nation's growth,” said Kong, who is also Transport Minister.
He said in order to ensure the success of the MCKIP, the Government has implemented various incentives and promotions as well as various funds to boost the development of the project.
“Besides placing such confidence in this park, we also hope to encourage more local businesses to be more pro-active in helping to promote the nation's economic growth so that all parties and the rakyat can benefit from this,” he said.
The park in Gebeng here is expected to be fully completed in two years.
It has already attracted investment commitments worth RM10.5bil and will create 8,500 jobs.
