Police wrap up investigations into William’s death
By FARIK ZOLKEPLI
PETALING JAYA: Police have wrapped up investigations into the death of six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong without any new findings or suspects.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said police have since submitted the investigation papers to the DPP along with the proposal for an inquest.
“We have exhausted our resources in finding the truth but unfortunately there is no new evidence that might shed some light to what have happened.
“We already finished our investigations...an inquest is the most logical next step,” he said when contacted Thursday.
He expects the DPP to make a decision on the proposed inquest on Friday.
ACP Yahaya said police have not found any suspects as well as evidence that might suggest foul play that led to William's death.
“Despite claims of abuse, the parents are not suspects as there have been no evidence or report that suggested that William was abused,” he said.
He also advised members of the public to refrain from speculating on the case as effort to find the truth is by no means over.
“We have tried out best for the past few weeks, including deploying personnel to comb through the place where William went missing as well as where his body was discovered,” he said adding that, the police K-9 unit was also deployed numerous times.
ACP Yahaya explained police also recorded more than 30 statements from William's parents and relatives as well as others.
