PETALING JAYA: Chinese New Year cards are not the only way to convey festive wishes, as social media is also a viable option for those wanting to wish their family and friends a prosperous celebration.

With that in mind, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek welcomed all Twitter users to join him and other Barisan Nasional leaders to use the hashtag #CNY in their tweets on the celebration throughout the Chinese New Year holidays, beginning 8pm today.

“I welcome all Netizens to join and tweet together with me to celebrate this auspicious festival.

“We can also use the #CNY hashtag to tweet and share anything related to the festival, including the balik kampung' traffic update, Chinese New Year reunion dinner, good food, and good moments with friends and family,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Dr Chua will be tweeting from his Twitter handle @drchuaSL.

In YONG PENG, Dr Chua said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would be attending a Chinese New Year celebration in Kulai during his official visit to Johor on Tuesday.

He said the premier was expected to arrive for the function at 2.30pm.

“We also hope to see local folk, community leaders, representatives from non-governmental organisations, schools and temples and members of Barisan Nasional component parties at the event.

“We are confident that the celebration will draw a large crowd with the presence of the Prime Minister,” he said after the Johor state liaison committee meeting on Wednesday.
