Retiree to spend 20 years in jail for molesting little girls

By NURBAITI HAMDAN

SHAH ALAM: A 62-year-old retiree appealed against his sentence for sexual offences involving two underaged sisters but ended up having to spend 20 years in jail instead of 10 years after a High Court here ordered his jail senternces to run consecutively instead of concurrently.

Justice Nurchaya Arshad ordered consecutive jail terms for Mohd Radzi who was found guilty of two counts of inserting his finger into the private parts of the sisters - aged five and seven - at a house in Kg Nakhoda Kanan in Batu Caves between April 14 and May 26, 2008.

Mohd Radzi was sentenced by a Sessions Court on Feb 14, 2011, to 10 years in jail for each of the two counts. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently.

He then appealed against his conviction and sentence.

On Friday, Justice Nurchaya said the lower court had not erred in its decision and rejected the appeal.

She then amended the sentences and ordered for it to run consecutively, making it a total of 20 years.

It was testified in court that the five-year-old sister complained of pain in her private parts to her mother, who thought her daughter had hurt herself from riding a bicycle.

The girl again complained of the pain when she tried to pee.

Her seven-year-old sister later told their mother that the retiree, who is the husband to their nanny, had inserted his finger into her private parts.

A medical examination confirmed hymen tears on both girls.
