Wanita Barisan all geared up for the general election

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Barisan Nasional are geared up for the general election with the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak giving them the booster to continue their efforts.

Some 3,000 Wanita Barisan dressed in blue, swarmed Najib as he greeted them at the compound of Menara Dato' Onn and PWTC in a show of force and unity regardless of which component party they are from.

Najib, who is Barisan Nasional chairman, recognised and appreciated the wing's contribution which he said was crucial in this election.

"The machinery is going down to the ground to every corner to meet the people.

"Today I give them the signal to move forward and continue their effort. We appreciate their contribution," he said to cheers from the crowd.

Wanita Barisan chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said they were intensifying the machinery's efforts even as the election drew near.

"We are the backbone of Barisan. We are the keepers of peace and unity for the upcoming general election," she added.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Umno leaders as well as component party leaders, including MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
