Lahad Datu: Two soldiers posthumously promoted to corporal

SUBANG JAYA: The two fallen heroes, Pbt Ahmad Hurairah Ismail, 24 and Pbt Ahmad Farhan Ruslan, 21, have been posthumously promoted to the rank of corporal.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that both soldiers' families would receive an increase in pensions to about RM2,500.
"On behalf of the ministry and the armed forces, I offer our deepest condolences to the families.
"They are heroes for defending our country," he said at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base here Wednesday.
The soldier's bodies arrived at the base around 8am and were received with full military honours.
The remains will be flown to Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan before being transported to to soldiers' respective hometowns for burial.
Pbt Ahmad Hurairah was killed in a gunbattle with Sulu gunmen at Sungai Nyamuk near Kg Tanjung Batu in Lahad Datu on Tuesday.
Pbt Farhan Ruslan was killed, also on Tuesday, when the truck he was transporting supplies in went out of control and crashed while heading to Bandar Cenderawasih, in the Felda Sahabat region, from Lahad Datu town.
