Man who allegedly killed apartment board chairman dies in hospital

GEORGE TOWN: The 60-year-old suspect who allegedly stabbed an apartment management board chairman to death after an argument on Tuesday, has died in hospital.

It is learnt that the man died from a drug overdose at the Penang Hospital here at 1.50am Wednesday.

It was reported that the suspect allegedly stabbed Liew Kum Thong (pic), 33, at garbage disposal area at Taman Sri Idaman apartment around 8.30am on Tuesday.

City deputy OCPD Supt Ismail Toh Paduka Idris said the post-mortem was still ongoing.

"He was warded at the hospital after he was arrested here. After the fatal incident, he went to the hospital to seek treatment and we caught him red-handed.

"The cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem," he said when met at the mortuary here.
