Lahad Datu: Housing and Local Government Ministry to raise funds for fallen heroes

By JOSEPH SIPALAN

PUTRAJAYA: The Housing and Local Government Ministry is aiming to raise at least RM130,000 for the Tabung Wira Negara, to aid families of the fallen Malaysian security forces who died fighting Sulu invaders in Lahad Datu.

Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung (pix) said they are in the midst of working out a mechanism to take a minimum RM10 contribution from each staff under his Ministry to be drawn from their March salary.

"We have around 13,000 staff working in agencies under our Ministry.

“Hopefully they will be generous and contribute more," he said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Earlier, Chor witnessed the signing of the corporate integrity pact between the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning Corporation (PPSPPA) and the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

During the event, the PPSPPA also pledged to make deductions from the March salaries of all its staff for the fund, promising a contribution of over RM11,000.
