PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the robbery and rape of a 24-year-old American teacher.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the man, in his 20s, was picked up at a house in Balakong around 8.30pm on Thursday.
"We believe the suspect can assist in our investigations into the matter," he said when contacted Friday.
This brings the number of suspects arrested in connection with the case to two.
"We are determined to nab the culprits as soon as possible," SAC Mohd Adnan.
It was previously reported that a 47-year-old man was detained in connection with the robbery and rape of an American teacher.
The suspect was picked up at about 5am at his home in Jalan Klang Lama on Wednesday and remanded until March 19 to help in the investigations.
The victim had stopped a taxi near a shopping mall to return to her house in Damansara Perdana, around 6pm on Monday.
However, the taxi driver stopped a few minutes into the journey and picked up a man. He then made another stop, on the excuse that the car had run out of gas.
Shortly afterwards, a van came by and the teacher was told to go into a van which would take her home.
However, the victim was taken to a house where she was raped by one of the men. .
The van driver helped the victim to escape the next day. She boarded a bus to Sungai Pelek, Sepang and lodged a police report.
