Yuna's song ‘Shine Your Way’ performed twice on US TV shows
Funny host: Leno introducing Yuna to the audience during the show. PETALING JAYA: Malaysian music has hit a high note with Yuna's song being performed twice in a week on two prime-time television shows in the United States.
The song, Shine Your Way, was written for DreamWorks' upcoming animated movie The Croods and is slated to be the opening song of the movie's soundtrack by Alan Silvestri. Silvestri did the music for Back to the Future and The Avengers.
On Thursday, a rendition of the song was sung by the Top 10 contestants on American Idol as their first group performance during the result show.
Yuna and Adam Young of Owl City also performed Shine Your Way live on Tonight Show with Jay Leno yesterday at 11.35pm US Pacific Time Zone (2.35pm Malaysian time), garnering loud applause from the audience.
The modest Yuna, whose real name is Zarai Yunali, 27, said she was pleased to have been given the opportunity to work on the project but said that she only played a small part in the song's creation.
“Shine Your Way is by Alan Silvestri and sung by the group Owl City, featuring me for the film. So, it really is not my song.
“Although my part is very small, I'm happy for the opportunity to be able to collaborate with Owl City,” she told mStar, adding that the song had a positive message for listeners.
A video of her performance, which was uploaded on the Internet, has generated much positive buzz from her Malaysian fanbase.
