Bodies of two commandos killed in action to arrive in Subang at noon

LAHAD DATU: The bodies of the two commandos killed in a bloody encounter with Sulu gunmen on Friday were flown from Tawau at 8am Saturday.

They are expected to reach the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) airbase in Subang at noon, from where they will be sent to their respective hometowns for burial.

The bodies of Inspector Zulkifli bin Mamat, 29, and Corporal Sabaruddin bin Daud, 47, will be given full police honours upon their arrival.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said that there was no further fighting overnight at Tanduo, where 12 Sulu gunmen were killed along with the two police commandos.

Three more were injured.

Calls to the leader of the armed group, Raja Muda Azzimudie Kiram, are going unanswered while his family in Manila has stated that the self-styled Royal Sulu Army will maintain their positions.
