GE13: PM's office dismisses rumours that Parliament dissolved

PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister's Office has dismissed rumours that Parliament was dissolved on Wednesday.

"The statement circulated about the dissolution of Parliament today, supposedly from the Prime Minister's Office, is false," it said in its official Twitter account @PMOMalaysia.

A statement falsely attributed to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak claimed he had announced the dissolution in a press statement in Putrajaya on Wednesday, after meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in the morning.

Malaysia is expected to hold its 13th general election in the coming weeks.

Parliament automatically dissolves on April 27 if the polls are not called before then.

The first sitting of the current Parliament began on April 28, 2008, following the last polls on March 8 the same year.
