Ismail Ahmad appointed new RTD head


KUALA LUMPUR: Road Transport Department deputy director-general (RTD) Datuk Ismail Ahmad (pic) has been appointed as the new director- general effective March 25.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa said, the appointment was to fill the vacancy created by Datuk Seri Solah Mat Hassan whose contract as the director-general will end on March 24.

"I believe his experience, knowledge and credibility will allow Ismail to lead and continue RTD's excellent delivery with integrity, through enforcement and the use of high technology to bring RTD administration at par with global standards by year 2020," he said.

In a statement, Ali also said the Government thanked Solah for his dedication and contribution to the RTD for over four years as the director-general.

Ismail, 56, who holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, joined the public service as a diplomatic and administrative service officer on Aug 1, 1989. - Bernama
