IPOH: Applicants will know the result of their Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) 2.0 aid appeals within the first week of April.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said decision letters would be sent out during that period.

“For Perak alone, there are 32,000 applications still being processed, including those who have appealed.

“For this year, the Federal Government has approved 6.1 million applications, of whom 4.3 million are heads of households who received the RM500 cash aid,” he told reporters after visiting the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) Ipoh branch office here yesterday.

He added that the rest were singles who received the RM250 cash aid.

On Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s announcement that BR1M would be given annually, Ahmad Husni said the Government was able to do so as it had managed its economy well.

“In terms of revenue, I am confident that the IRB can also reach the RM130bil target set for this year based on its good performance since 2011,” he said.

Meanwhile in terms of spending, the Government hade been focusing on ensuring value-for-money such as through the process of calling for tenders, he added.
