GE13: Wan Muhammad no longer a postal voter

PETALING JAYA: The man that PKR claimed as pro-Umno blogger Papa Gomo is no longer a postal voter.

Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, who was a constable attached to the Ampang Jaya police district headquaters, was sacked on Sept 6 last year for criminal misconduct.

Federal management director Comm Datuk Mortadza Nazarene said Wan Muhammad Azri was no longer listed as a police voter or a postal voter.

“The Election Commission (EC) has also explained the matter as his record as a postal voter was deleted from the EC Postal Voter list.

“This shows that any question of an individual being able to vote in two places does not arise,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Comm Mortadza explained that Wan Muhammad Azri, who was with the police force from July 1 2002 until Nov 30, 2004 was detained for a criminal offence.

“He was charged on Oct 31, 2005.

“The trial was conducted on the same day and he was found guilty and subsequently sentenced on Sept 6 last year,” he said, adding that disciplinary proceedings followed leading to his dismissal.

On Tuesday, PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli revealed anecdotal evidence that allegedly proved claims that blogger Papa Gomo and KL Pos Media & Production Sdn Bhd chief executive Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris were the same person.

He showed reporters images of Wan Muhammad Azri taken from his ex-wife’s blog, and blurred images of Papa Gomo on the latter’s website, and indicated the metal bracelet worn by the men in all the pictures.

Rafizi’s “expose” came on the heels of the latest postings by Papa Gomo, including a video posting of an undated Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s interview with BFM89.9, The Business Station, in which he was asked three times if he was a homosexual or a bisexual.

On March 21, Anwar filed a RM100mil suit against Papa Gomo for defamation over the posting of a series of screen grabs from a video showing two men in intimate situation in a blog www.rajagoyang360.blogspot.com.
