LAHAD DATU: Residents were seen bustling about as usual on their Sunday routines, with only a few shops still closed.

A Bernama survey since 8am found many shops and restaurants crowded with families.

"This is normal, lots of people do their shopping during the weekend. We just got our pay as well," Sapardi Sanang, 41, told Bernama at a big supermarket here.

Queried about the armed intruders in Kg Tandou, located in a remote area about 130kms away, Sapardi said he was confident of the security forces controlling the situation and ensuring peace.

Fatihah Abdullah, 30, said the trip to the supermarket was a Sunday family routine and he felt safe bringing his two children out to do their grocery shopping.

The scorching heat did not prevent Ariany Abdul Rahman, 36, wither from coming out with her four-month-old baby.

The mother of two said she took the opportunity to shop at the supermarket and other shops with the family, as it was Sunday.
