From that police were able to account for 19 of the 25 policemen, all based at the station in Semporna, who caught in the ambush, he said.

The bodies of the six policemen have been taken to the Semporna hospital.

On Friday, two police commandos were killed in Lahad Datu after police moved in on the gunmen after a three-week standoff.
