Bloggers told not to divulge movement of security forces in Lahad Datu, Semporna

KUALA LUMPUR: All quarters, including bloggers, should support the authorities in their efforts to address the intrusion of Filipino armed invaders in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah, and maintain the confidentiality of the movement of the security forces.

Major (Rtd) Wan Hashim Wan Ahmad, who had served in Bosnia Herzegovina, said the people should not question the steps taken by security forces to resolve the crisis.

"Bloggers should not post negative remarks that could divide the people. If it is true that this incident is perpetrated by outsiders, it seems that they have managed to break our morale," he told Bernama.

He said they also should not be overzealous in updating information and pictures on the movement of the security forces while members of the security forces should not do likewise on social sites for the information and telephone numbers of officers on duty given could be abused.

Blogger Komando Kedai Kopi or Major (Rtd) Naza Talib also called on the people to continue to support to police and the armed forces without questioning who should have the upper hand in resolving the stalemate for the security forces acted cautiously.

He also praised the police for their courage in confronting the intruders who were armed with automatic weapons and have experience in guerrilla warfare in the jungles of the Philippines. - Bernama
