Philippines, Malaysia exploring ways for peaceful resolution in Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: The Philippines and Malaysia are exploring ways to arrive at a peaceful solution to the incident in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, J. Eduardo Malaya, and Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Jose Brilliantes met with Malaysian Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein in Lahad Datu on Monday, to explore ways for a peaceful solution.

Brilliantes, who is also Philippine Deputy Foreign Minister, is on a consular humanitarian mission in Sabah, along with Malaya.

The Philippine Embassy had earlier appealed to the Filipino-Malaysian community in the eastern coast of Sabah to remain calm and refrain from undertaking any action, which might aggravate the situation. - Bernama
