Group out to boost networking and understanding among youngsters
KUCHING: A group of youths will be making their presence felt in seven constituencies from today until March 10 in an effort to empower the young generation.
The group, comprising 80 undergraduates and 40 organising committee members and NGO representatives, will hold various events, starting here today, Stampin (today and tomorrow), Sri Aman (March 5), Saratok (March 6), Sarikei (March 7), Sibu (March 8 and 9) and Miri (March 9 and 10) under the “Jelajah Anak Malaysia - Kenyalang 2.0” programme.
The purpose of the programme is to reach out to youths, get their feedback, strengthen their networking and promote cultural exchange and understanding, said Gabungan Generasi Muda (G2M) chairman Mohd Shahar Abdullah.
“We have 11 events namely Suara Rakyat, Rakyat Service Centre, Kam1 Prihatin, Pentas Anak Muda, Jelas Rakyat, Rakyat Cerga, Muzikal Rakyat, Kuliah Rakyat, Santai Rakyat, Ikon Anak Muda and Janji Rakyat which will be held at different constituencies.
“For instance, in Bandar Kuching tomorrow (today), we will visit Kenyalang Park and Mile 10 Bazaar under Kam1 Prihatin to help local councils take down illegal posters and advertisements.
“Stampin Got Talent will be held at CityONE in the evening in search of new talents.
“The public are invited to give their support to the contestants,” Shahar said at a press conference here yesterday.
He said the group had travelled all over Peninsular Malaysia between Jan 30 and Feb 16 to carry out a survey on matters concerning the young generation such as education and future prospects.
He said responses to the survey would be compiled and handed over to the Prime Minister.
