MBSB to increase loan disbursement to RM14bil

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Building Society Berhad (MBSB) is planning to increase its loan disbursement to around RM14bil by the end of the year, says its president an chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Zaini Othman.

He said that this would be a 15% to 20% increase from last year's RM12bil.

On the profit outlook for this year, he said that, barring any unforseen circumstance, it was likely to do btter this year than last year, he said.

“But it is too early to say and we will know better after the first quarter of this year,” he said after handing over a RM1mil mock cheque to the Yayasan Cemerlang for the Tun Rahah Scholarship Fund on Tuesday.

On MBSB's expansion plan on education, Ahmad Zaini said that they planned to open three or four Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campuses through the support of the Federal Government's private initiatives programmes.

Ahmad Zaini said that the contribution was to assist the less privilege students of various races at the higher education level.

It was also done as a mark of the production of their maiden coffee table book, “Building Society: The MBSB Story” which would be launched in May, he said.
