KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah state cabinet has agreed to contribute RM100,000 to each family of the policemen killed in Lahad Datu and Semporna.

When announcing the contribution, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said a contribution of RM50,000 would also be given to those who sustained severe injuries in the incident.

"At the same time, the state government will also consider other appropriate assistance to be given to the widows and children of the affected police personnel," he told reporters after chairing the weekly state cabinet meeting.

Musa said the state government and all Malaysians in Sabah greatly appreciated the deeds and sacrifices of the security forces in defending the national sovereignty.

"Their sacrifices to the nation have truly significant meaning which cannot be evaluated in any way," he said.

Eight police personnel were killed and four others injured in the intrusion on the east coast of Sabah since Friday. - Bernama
