Lahad Datu: Selangor Mentri Besar slams Tian Chua
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has distanced himself from a controversial statement by fellow party leader Tian Chua claiming conspiracy in the Lahad Datu intrusion.
Khalid said he respected and believed in the efforts made by the police and armed forces in defending the country's sovereignty.
He said he did not think that a PKR leader would issue such a statement.
“It is the state government's duty to give due recognition to our institutions, police and army for protecting the state and country,” he said after the state executive councillors' meeting yesterday.
Meanwhile, a relative of a slain police commando lodged a police report against Tian Chua at the Shah Alam district police headquarters in Section 9 here yesterday.
An agitated Azni Che Ahmidon said he was proud that his cousin, Sergeant (posthumous rank) Sabarudin Daud died an honourable death defending the country.
Azni said irresponsible claims that Sabarudin's death was an Umno conspiracy should stop.
Many similar reports were also lodged against Tian Chua nationwide by political groups and non-governmental organisations.
In Petaling Jaya, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim maintained that Tian Chua and Subang MP R. Sivarasa visited Manila in early February.
They were there to investigate the alleged pyramid scheme masterminded by Manuel Amalilio, who has been identified a Sabahan businessman Mohd Kamal Sa'ad, from Beaufort.
He was asked to comment on reports by Gabungan Pribumi Prihatin Sabah (Coalition of Concerned Sabah Natives) questioning whether the two PKR politicians' visit was a pretext to meet with certain personalities linked to the Lahad Datu armed intrusion.
