ZI Publications director charged with publishing, distributing, possessing Irshad Manji's book

Mohd Ezra claims trial to three alternative charges at the Lower Syariah Court in Petaling Jaya on Thursday. PETALING JAYA: The director of ZI Publications was charged in a Lower Syariah Court here with three counts of publishing, distributing and possessing the controversial Irshad Manji's book last year.
Mohd Ezra Mohd Zaid (pix), 30, however, claimed trial to the three alternative charges before Syarie judge Saharuddin Selamat on Thursday.
He was alleged to have committed the offence at ZI Publications in Merchant Square in Jalan Tropicana Selatan 1, here, in May last year.
The prosecution was led by Selangor Syarie prosecution chief Abdul Shukor Abdul Hamid while Mohd Ezra was represented by Syarie counsel Zulkifli Che Yong.
The court fixed May 9 for mention.
