Mohamad Zabidi Zainal appointed PSD director-general

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Mohamad Zabidi Zainal has been appointed the new Public Services Department (PSD) director-general effective March 15.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa said the appointment of Mohamad Zabidi was approved by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

Mohamad Zabidi was director-general of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu).

Mohamad Zabidi has the experience, competence and leadership skills to continue transformation efforts of the PSD through efficient and innovative human resource management and development, Ali said in a statement here.

Ali said Mohamad Zabidi, who is an administrative and diplomatic officer, has an honours degree in public administration and a masters in Southeast Asian Studies, both from Universiti Malaya. He joined the civil service on Dec 1, 1981.

He has also held the posts of assistant secretary, Information Ministry; Selangor state assistant finance officer; Health Ministry deputy secretary-general (Finance) and Perlis state secretary. "I am confident that with his vast experience and knowledge, Datuk Mohamad Zabidi Zainal will be able to lead the Public Service Department with integrity, efficiency and transparency," he said.
