GE13: Police: Show your MyKad only to EC members
GEORGE TOWN: Only those from the Election Commission can ask voters for their MyKad to determine their eligibility, says Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said this after police obtained information that individuals from certain non-governmental organisations were planning to apply the “intimidation tactic” by cross-checking voters' MyKads on polling day for GE13.
“Registered voters should go out and vote without fear,” he said after attending a briefing at the state police headquarters here yesterday.
“Voters should not be intimidated. We have identified these groups of people and will deal with them when the time comes,” he added.
“This move is aimed at causing discomfort among registered voters. We do not care about their political affiliations,” said Khalid.
“We will move in to stop them from creating problems and disrupting the election process.”
He said police had also received information of betting activities during the election.
“We are monitoring them.”
