GE13: PKR seeks amicable solution with PSM over Semenyih state seat

PETALING JAYA: PKR has confirmed that it will contest the Semenyih state seat despite Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) wanting to do so as well.

Selangor PKR vice-chairman Zuraida Kamaruddin said discussions were ongoing and they hoped to resolve the matter amicably soon for the good of Pakatan Rakyat.

"During the last elections, the agreement given to PSM was that if they did not win the seat, we will take it back.

"We know PSM is vocal but we want to resolve this internally through discussions," she told a press conference here Monday.

PSM secretary-general S. Arutchelvan contested and narrowly lost the Semenyih state seat in 2008.

PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Sunday night its list of candidates for Selangor, and which included Semenyih.

Zuraida, who is also the party's Wanita chief, said PKR was confident of retaining 19 state and 11 parliamentary seats in Selangor, adding that she was happy that at least 30% of women candidates were being fielded.
