KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) is willing to compromise with Pakatan Rakyat over the use of its party logo for the polls, but is adamant on contesting in one parliament and three state seats.

PSM secretary-general S. Arutchelvan said the decision was made following an emergency meeting with 93 delegates who agreed to compromise to avoid a three-cornered fight for seats.

"We are hopeful that the matter would be resolved following meeting with Pakatan leaders later on Tuesday," he told reporters at a press conference.

The seats he cited were the Sungai Siput parliamentary and Jelapang state seats in Perak and the Semenyih and Kota Damansara state seats in Selangor.

He said PSM would field its candidates for the seats irrespective of the outcome of negotiations.

He also said PSM would request Pakatan to allow them to field its candidate in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

Arutchelvan added that PSM has also decided not to allow non-members to use their party logo to stand in the election following several requests from Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, Perak and Negri Sembilan.
