Malaysians tweet their condolences


PETALING JAYA: Malaysians expressed condolences on Twitter to those affected by two bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon.

#BostonMarathon and #PrayForBoston were trending on Twitter within hours.

Chin Ann, set to participate in The North Face 100 marathon in Baguio, Philippines, this weekend and tweets under the handle @vin_ann, said he would observe a minute’s silence at the starting line.

“The joy of running a marathon will never be the same again. #PrayForBoston,” he tweeted yesterday morning.

He said nine Malaysians participated in the Boston Marathon and as at 11am yesterday, only one was unaccounted for.

Another user @geoffyeow tweeted “Soon the dust shall settle before the hunt begins for the people who did this. Until then, #prayforboston.”

Aric Ting expressed shock and tweeted “#PrayforBoston From us here in Malaysia. What a tragic, tragic event. My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of victims.”

Sheahnee Iman Lee tweeted, “Horrified at the news and visuals coming in from the #BostonMarathon bomb blast. What is the world coming to?”

The marathon is one of the world’s biggest sporting events, with 23,000 participants and tens of thousands of spectators. Two bombs detonated near the finish line, killing three people and injuring more than 100.
