BENTONG: As part of the media fraternity, I am posted out of state to cover the general election, which is far from my constituency, Seputeh.

However, I did not have to worry about voting away from home following the Election Commission's move to allow postal voting for media personnel.

In the past, postal voting was only applicable to police, election officials, overseas voters and military personnel.

When the company gave me a form to fill up for postal voting, I immediately applied for it.

Without this option, although Kuala Lumpur is about an hour away, I would have needed to rush in order to travel back and forth.

Postal voting takes away the headache as well as the waste of petrol and time so that I can put my mark on a piece of paper that could make a difference.
