GE13: Perak Pakatan Rakyat to file at least six polls petitions

IPOH: Perak Pakatan Rakyat will file at least six election petitions over the results in the recently-concluded general election.

State Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said they were anticipating to file at least six petitions, but the numbers could be more.

“We need to gather all the information and proof before deciding the exact number of petitions that we will be filing. But for now, we are sure of six petitions,” he said here yesterday.

The petitions are believed to be for the state seats of Manong, Lubuk Merbau, Manjoi, Pasir Panjang, Selama and Alor Pongsu.

In the six areas, he said Pakatan either lost by small margins or the number of spoilt votes were alarming.

Compared to the other five constituencies, Manjoi had over 700 spoilt votes and Barisan's Mohamad Ziad Mohamed, who is the son-in-law of former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, won with a 132 majority against Asmuni Awi from PAS.
